Leticia de Maria is a Brazilian, classically trained dance teacher and choreographer based in Belmont, California. She trained for ten years at Centro de Dança Rio and danced in the corps de ballet of the opera Alabê de Jerusalém at Rio de Janeiro's Theatro Municipal. For more than 15 years she has taught dance to people of every age and ability: women over 40 taking their first class, seniors, children, and students with special needs. In Brazil, two of her programs were featured on national television: Divas Dance, for mature women with no prior dance experience, and Up Project, an inclusive Hip Hop program for students with physical and intellectual disabilities. In the U.S., she has taught after-school dance for Castro Valley Unified School District, inclusive classes at Ray of Light Performing Arts in Hayward, and a women's 40+ dance program in Houston and Katy, Texas. Her classes are warm, structured and pressure-free: beginners feel safe from the first minute, progress at their own pace, and keep coming back. She teaches Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Musical Theater, Tap, Hip Hop, Brazilian Samba, 70s Disco and more, in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
